if you are an employee [receive a W-2] the expenses may be deductible on form 2106 [Employee Expense], which carries forward to Schedule A [itemized deductions].

there is a 2% of adjusted gross income deductible relating to this type of expense before the “do I itemize?” test.

if you are an independent contractor [receive a 1099 form], then these expenses, if allowable [see IRS rules in the instructions] go on your Schedule C [self-employment] which then carries over to Form 1040.
