Question by Sheina: What fun stuff is there to do in Connecticut?
I’m going to visit my family in Connecticut this summer and I need to know what fun stuff we can do there. Thanks.

Mystic Seaport can definitely fill a day. It’s full of old sailing ships and maritime history. Nearby is the Mystic Aquarium. The town of Mystic is pretty fun – there are some touristy shops and stuff, and Mystic Pizza if you are into that. Personally I would skip the pizza and go for seafood.
Speaking of seafood, take the drive along US 1 to Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tails in… Guilford, I think? Or USS Chowder Pot in Branford. And absolutely do not miss Frank Pepe’s Pizza in New Haven.
There are museums in Hartford, and the Mark Twain house. Colonial Wethersfield is just south of Hartford and has old houses – more for walking around and looking at than anything else although I think some tours may be available.
There’s fly fishing on the Housatonic and Farmington rivers, striped bass and bluefish off the beach. If rafting and kayaking are more your style you can do that, too.
Sailing or motorboating in Long Island Sound, or the Thimble Islands cruise from Stony Creek harbor. There is a steam train and riverboat tour in Essex, a quaint town on the Connecticut river.
Go for a drive through the many scenic areas in the Northeast corner, the shoreline, or the Litchfield Hills. Try to end up at the Speckled Hen pub in Norfolk! (In the Northwest corner near NY and Mass state lines). There are small state parks all over, where you can picnic or take a hike. It’s a small state and you can see a lot in one day.
And, if you do everything you want to in CT and want a change of pace, hop on Metro North to New York City. The trains run from New Haven along the shorleline, with the best parking situation in Bridgeport and Stamford. Parking at many of the other stations is horrendous on weekdays and fills up early with commuters.
